If you haven't noticed -  I'm a HUGE Diplo fan and this is one of my favorites. The video doesn't aide my concentration with the writing, so I usually avoid it. But, when I do watch, it makes my LOL.

10 Things to Keep on Hand for a Zombie Apocalypse

Gillian Zane | 11:25 AM | | | 2 Comments
In my book, RUN, the main character Alexis Winter is a "prepper." A prepper is a person who is convinced that there will be some kind of disaster or apocalypse situation that will lead to an "end of the world" scenario, or at least a major disruption in the world. These people "prep" by stockpiling food, weapons and supplies that will help them when the disaster hits.

Alexis wasn't exactly prepping for a Zombie Apocalypse, she was on a less paranormal mindset, but her preps did help her in the long run. If you want to prep for a Zombie Apocalypse, here are ten things you should have on hand in case of a zombie apocalypse:

1. Weapons (Knives, ax etc.)

Silent but deadly. Keep that in mind! You want the weapon sharp, silent and with a good handle length to keep those teeth away from you.

2. All terrain vehicle

When you buy your vehicle, think "can this run over zombies?" If the answer is yes, you should get that vehicle. You might think about adding a "cow catcher" to it and maybe adding an exhaust snorkel. Wouldn't want to have your vehicle drowning under zombie guts.

3. Non-perishable food

They goal is to stockpile as much food as possible that will not go bad. Grains, canned goods, MREs (Meals Ready to Eat) that sort of thing.

4. Water purifier

You'll dehydrate fast on the RUN from zombies. Have a water purifier ready and a few gallons of water.

5. Bug-out location

Your home might not be an optimal location to bug-in and defend against zombies. Go for high fences and moats.

6. Trained canine

Alexis has her trained pup Charlie and he is the perfect zombie detector.

7. Energy bars

You'll need lots of calories and energy to outrun zombies, have a few energy bars on hand in a bug-out bag. You'll need them.

8. Walkie-Talkies

If you hook up with another survivor, hopefully, a hottie like Blake Miller, you'll need to keep in touch. Walkie-Talkies are a must.

9.  First-Aid/Medicine

You don't want to go down because a paper cut got infected, or if you have to do a quick amputation - you'll need the right tools. You should have a first aid kit on hand and your standard medicine.

10. Lighter/Flint

You might find yourself in the dark, no electricity, holed up somewhere, you'll need to light a fire, or at least a candle. You better have a lighter on hand, or better yet, learn how to use a flint or other type of fire starter that won't run out of fuel.

Good luck!

Run Playlist - Another Hit

Gillian Zane | 12:00 PM | | Please comment!

There are some singers/bands that come with a stigma, the actual liking of their music is kept as a "dirty little secret" and Justin Bieber is one of them. I would have never admitted that I actually liked a Bieber song...ever. Because I didn't, never have. I do kind of like that one that is on Just Dance, but obviously it's not that good because I don't remember the title. But, I do have to admit I have a serious hard-on for Skrillex. Serious. I'm the only asshole in a Prius that turns the sound up and puts the windows down to let the dubstep out into the world. Sorry about that. So, when I grabbed the Skrillex/Diplo mystery album I loved a song - and then found out the dude singing was Justin Bieber. Now I like a Justin Bieber song. And it is on the RUN playlist, in fact this is running in the ending credits as RUN comes to a close.

“Where Are Ü Now”
(feat. Justin Bieber)

I need you, that I need you
I need you, that I need you
I need you, you, you, you, you, you
I need you, that I need you
I need you, that I need you
I need you, you, you, you, you, you
You, you, you
I need you the most

I gave you the key when the door wasn’t open, just admit it
See, I gave you faith, turned your doubt into hoping, can’t deny it
Now I’m all alone and my joys turned to moping
Tell me, where are you now that I need you?
Where are you now?
Where are you now that I need you?
Couldn’t find you anywhere
When you broke down I didn’t leave you
I was by your side
So where are you now that I need you?
Where are you now that I need you?

Where are you now that I need you?
Where are you now that I need you?
Where are you now that I need you?

I gave you attention when nobody else was payin’
I gave you the shirt off my back, what you sayin’, to keep you warm
I showed you the game everybody else was playin’, that’s for sure
And I was on my knees when nobody else was prayin’, oh Lord

Where are you now that I need you?
Where are you now that I need you?

I need you, that I need you
I need you, that I need you
I need you, you, you, you, you, you
Where are you now that I need you?
I need you, that I need you
I need you, that I need you
I need you, you, you, you, you, you
I need you the most

Where are you now that I need you?
Where are you now that I need you?
Where are you now that I need you?
I need you the most (I need you the most, I need you the most)

From the RUN Playlist...

Gillian Zane | 12:00 PM | | Please comment!

A girl needs music. I need music to survive. I need music to write. My playlist is massive and varied. But, there are a few songs the resonate and identify with what I'm writing. While I was writing RUN, one of the songs that I left on repeat was LOVELIFE by Your New Beloved.

Enjoy.

A song from the RUN by Gillian Zane playlist

 The Lyrics (from youtube.com)

All the time I think of you
Holding on to someone new
Don't make me lose my mind.

I simply refuse to believe it
You're like somebody different
Like a lost bird gliding
Through the tops of the mountains
In search of something
And I can feel your heartbeat
Is it love or drugs yeah?

Remember staying up all weekend?
Didn't eat, didn't sleep yeah
But what's the point when you're breathless?
You said that you would never stop loving me
Well do you lie through your back teeth
To your new beloved?

I'm running away, I'm running away
I'm changing my name
I never want to be seen again
Or heard again.

I'll keep pushing it
To the back of my head
I don't want, I can't deal with it
I am done, I am through with this.
One day we will meet after everything
We will drink and make amends
Raise a toast to your old beloved.

Tuesday's Tease - When Alexis Sees Blake for the First Time

RUN is AVAILABLE now!

Run (NOLA Zombie #1) Excerpt

When Alexis sees Blake for the first time

Holy zombie balls, I hadn’t seen a man this pretty in real life before. I expected a sudden gust of wind to billow his longish brown hair, or a quick downpour to soak his too-tight tee so he would have to pull it off and reveal his rock-hard abs. I was drooling.

RUN HAS RELEASED!!!!!!!!

Gillian Zane | 11:00 PM | 1 Comments
RUN_FINAL
35fe1-add-to-goodreads-button31

button synopsis
Zombies are on the loose in New Orleans and of all the End of the World scenarios, Alexis Winter wasn’t prepared for this one. But, an apocalypse is an apocalypse and she should have this covered. She has been “prepping” for the last three years. The problem is location and timing. She’s stuck downtown and she has to get to her house on the outskirts of the city so she can get her supplies and bug-in (for the “non-preppers” this means hole up and stay safe).

Agreeing to work on a Saturday is now coming back to bite her on the ass big time. Hopefully, it won’t be a literal bite by the walking dead.

Luck favors the prepared, and as luck would have it, it comes in the form of the ridiculously hot Blake Miller. Former military man, current mercenary, Blake Miller, the man with the plan, his goal: steal a boat and trek up the Mississippi until they find safety. Alexis thinks this is a great plan and she decides to team up with Blake. The two team up in unexpected ways as they find they can’t keep their hands off of each other even when the world is falling down around them.

Can Alexis and Blake survive the end of the world, and if they do make it through the night, find a place that is safe and secure? Can their newfound attraction lead them down the road to love or heartbreak?

Zombies, sex, romance and carnage…you can’t get any better than this.

Today it is that time again. I'm having fun with this meme.

week's question
How do you write your reviews? via bluebooksandbutterflies.blogspot.com
Because I'm an author it is a little trickier, I don't want to be too negative, but I also want to be honest. So, I make sure I always write something positive, but if there is a lot of negative I usually just don't review it. Oh and I write them after a few days, I don't write them right after I've finished the book.

I PUT THEM ON MY SHELF. Well no, really I download them to my kindle an if it says NEW I read them. I'm not very organized. I haven't really implemented Goodreads and I don't know what Leafmarks or Booklikes is.

Chapter 1 of RUN

Gillian Zane | 11:41 AM | | 1 Comments

Chapter ONE
Rick the IT Guy

The zombie apocalypse was really fucking with my head. One minute I was at my job, sucking up to my new boss–don’t judge, I didn’t want to be on the next list of layoffs– then in the next moment I’m running for my life with Rick the IT guy in full zombie brain-eater mode after my ass.

Lucky for me, I chose to wear my flats instead of those new Gucci studded platform monstrosities I bought on impulse last weekend because my new boss is a ridiculously short, insecure douche-bag. He can’t look up to a girl, so I make sure that I wear flats so he stares at my tits. We both win. My shoe choice literally saved my life. If boss man wasn’t a little Napoleon, I would be pushing up daisies, or looking for my own brains to snack on.

Thanks for voting! Yellow it is.

The votes are in and tallied. Yellow won by a large amount, Red was second and pink was obviously not a favorite. So, without further pontificating, here is the cover and synopsis of RUN, by moi.

Synopsis:

The End is Nigh!

Gillian Zane | 10:32 PM | Please comment!

I've taken the plunge and forked out actual money. I've set a date, this thing is going to happen.

First, I've hired someone to help me because this is all new to me. I have know clue about book covers, marketing and blogging. I know how to write, they never told you in creative writing that you would also have to know how to market your book, tweet and maybe even figure out one or two computer software programs. I'm so old school my mom is embarrassed. People look at me phone when I break out my flip-phone and then go cross-eyed when I say I don't have cable or internet at home.

Why? I read and write all the time.

So, I got internet and I hired a professional. The world is coming to an end.

Check out the new blog design by aforementioned professional, her name is Rachel Rivera and she designs, markets and tweets via the moniker parajunkee. Now she knows how to do everything I don't know how to do.

If I'm ever suspected of foul play and investigated by the FBI they will certainly think I'm off my rocker if they check my search history.

These are some of the things that roll through my head at any given moment. Sometimes I think I'm strange and then I remember, I'm supposed to be strange, I want to be a writer. Writers are strange, aren't they?

I have to remind myself as I search on Google - cum vs. come, because I don't like the word cum, but maybe it's the right one to use. Luckily it just seems to be slang.

I've been putting this off for a long time. This blogging thing. Everyone in my writing group has urged me to start a blog, get on twitter, make a Facebook fan page. But, what did I have to blog about?

Nothing.

I didn't even have a name for my book yet. I didn't have a cover, I didn't even have an ending. How can you blog if there is no ending?

Well, now things have changed. I have an ending. I have a title and I even have a cover in the works. Who knew a talented cover artist and book blogger lived right around the corner from me?  Fate. It is a funny thing.

So, hi. My name is Gillian. I write. I write sexy, kind of naughty, paranormal erotica. And now it looks like I blog. Funny how life works.
